Best Rock Songs of 2012 (So Far)

The year 2012 is far from over, and there have already been a number of memorable hard rock songs released. This list celebrates the tunes that have been rocking the radio and our headphones since the dawning of 2012.
On this list, you’ll see some veteran bands who have remained on top of their games for years, a few newcomers and a couple of major acts making big comebacks.
To qualify for this list, the single itself had to be released in 2012, whether the album came out this year or last year. We’ll be updating this list as the new singles are released this year, but for now check out Loudwire’s Best Rock Songs of 2012 (So Far), complete with videos for each tune:

THE STATIC JACKS COVER KISS’ ‘I WAS MADE FOR LOVING YOU’

Along with a note saying “We did this cover just for you,” New Jersey rockers the Static Jacks have posted their version of the Kiss classic ‘I Was Made for Loving You.’
While they aren’t a household name yet, the band members have been steadily building an audience since 2007, and they released their debut LP, ‘If You’re Young,’ was released last year; since then, they’ve appeared on Fuse TV and ‘Last Call with Carson Daly.’
Earlier this year, the Jacks released a new EP, titled ‘Spray Tan,’ and they’re currently at work on their next album, due to arrive in stores sometime next year. Perhaps their take on ‘I Was Made for Loving You’ is an indication of where they’re headed, or maybe it’s just a fun, fond tip of the hat to a group of East Coast rock legends — either way, you can check it out simply by hitting ‘play’ on the audio embed below.
Kiss, meanwhile, are promoting some new music of their own — the just-released album ‘Monster,’ which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard charts while earning some of the strongest reviews of the band’s career. The record’s second single, ‘Long Way Down,’ hit radio this past Tuesday (Oct. 23).
